Just like every August, last month’s top event was the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament where the Czech Under-18 national team caught attention by great play en route to silver medal. Besides that, the Under-20 Extraliga started, unusually, last month and besides Ivan Hlinka, some other international events took place.

The silver-winning Ivan Hlinka team had a lot of stars on the roster, but none shone as often as the masked man in the net, Daniel Vladař. The huge goalie overshadowed all other netminders in Břeclav not just by size, but also by the way he played the game. Succeeding Vítek Vaněček successfully, he also made a huge step towards getting drafted into the NHL in June.

Alongside the tall goalie from Kladno U20 team, Ivan Hlinka defenseman Jakub Zbořil, 2016 draft prospect Filip Suchý and so far top players of the Under-20 Extraliga Aleš Jergl and Alex Rašner had an amazing month. Hopefully, they can keep up the good work and get mentioned in this segment once again.
